About

“It’s not always black and white”

Except in my case, it really is! I gravitate to simple, clean lines with a modern black and white look. Embracing the concept of wabi-sabi, which is a Japanese term that loosely means we should look for the beauty in imperfection and accept that all things are imperfect, incomplete and impermanent, I take pleasure in the small nuances in my ceramics while at the same time constantly learning how to create better art.

I work mainly with a very pure bright white porcelain on both the wheel and with slabs handbuilding. I love to explore varying shapes and textures that highlight both the porcelain and the simplicity of black and white. My favorite pieces to make are functional, which I hope help to elevate some simple every day tasks, from watering plants to sipping a warm cup of tea.
